Teatime Acrostics

Acrostics were common in medieval literature and were often used to feature the name of the poet’s patron or to honor a saint. Could your quiet tea moment – enjoying teatime alone – be a poetry writing time? An acrostic is a poem in which the letters in a word become the first letters of a line, spelling out a word or phrase. The word or phrase you choose can be the name of a friend, a favorite flower or place, or whatever you like. Young children like to create acrostics with their own first name or the name of a family member. Here’s one example with our tea activity theme:
