A few suggestions to make your your own tea party treats.

Lemon Curd

Lemon Curd is a traditional and popular accompaniment with warm scones when serving a British-style afternoon tea. But both are handy toppings to incorporate in other tea party recipes. Lemon Curd also makes a decadent filling between layers of cake.

Makes 2 cups. Serves 6-8.


  • ¾ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon grated lemon zest
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ cup butter, cut into chunks


In a saucepan, combine lemon juice, lemon zest, sugar, eggs and butter. Cook over very low heat until thick, about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Cool before serving. Lemon curd can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to a week.
