Super-Easy Teapot Cozy

We wanted to design a very simple beginner’s sewing project that doesn’t require a sewing machine or with much experience. This is it! All you need is a needle and thread that matches your soft, cushy fabric. In fact, this is so quick and easy, it could be a home tea party activity or a children’s class in a tearoom.

Super-Easy Teapot Cozy

This simple arch is made of polar fleece which doesn’t require finishing the raw edges of seams and is easy to hand-stitch or sew by machine.

What you need:

  • ¼ yard of heavyweight polar fleece
  • Notions:  thread, pins, needles, scissors

Cutting the fabric:

Fold one edge of the polar fleece over enough to cut one piece. Pin the pattern to cut out the first side. Repeat for the second side. (Note: since polar fleece doesn’t unravel, there’s no need to finish the raw edge.)

Sewing:

Matching the two sides, pin together. Use a simple running stitch to sew over the curved arch.

Thread the needle. Double the thread and knot the end. Starting at one side, push the needle through the two pieces and pull it all the way through. Then, about ¼” to the side, push the needle back through and pull through. Continue making these same stitches all around the arch. At the end, be sure to tie a knot to secure the stitches.

Finishing:

Turn the cozy inside out so the row of stitches don’t show. Now your cozy is ready for teatime.
