Fun Tea Party Recipes
Apple Pie Tea
Celebrate with a Fall themed teatime.
Fall tea parties can feature the fruits of the season and the fun of preserving the harvest.
Makes 5 – 6 servings
- 1 can apple pie filling (21 oz)
- 1 cup milk
- 4 cups brewed Rooibos tea
- 1 cup apple cider
Topping Ingredients: The topping is optional but adds to the festivities.
- 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 2 teaspoons apple cider
Prepare the topping by whipping the cream with electric mixer or hand whisk until it forms peaks. Mix in 2 teaspoons of the apple cider and the teaspoon of apple pie spice. Keep it chilled in the refrigerator until the hot drink is ready to serve.
Brew the cup of Rooibos tea (plain or flavored). Let it cool slightly. Blend the apple pie filling in a blender on a low speed until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the milk, tea and apple juice. Pour the mixture into a saucepan and heat over low heat until steamy but not boiling. Serve this thick and creamy tea in teacups or mugs. Add the topping (if desired) and serve immediately.
Homemade Apple Pie Filling Option:
- 4 Granny Smith or Pippin Apples
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- ¼ cup water
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Peel, core and slice the apples. Saute in the butter for 10 minutes. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon and water. Simmer until the apples are soft and begin to break apart. Then, blend this with the Rooibos tea — or other favorite tea — as described in the Apple Pie Tea recipe above.
